Renaté Bianca - Songwriting Studio 2026
Thank you for visiting this space, where I share my songwriting process and thoughts around creativity and musical artistry. I share material as it is coming together - (draft) lyrics, raw form demos and studio recordings - as well as the stories behind the songs.
Songwriting
In June and September 2025, and April 2026 I travelled to Poatina in Tasmania's rural north for an artist residency supported by Arts Tasmania. Drawing on my Dutch heritage, I spent four weeks writing songs for a new Dutch/English release, as well continuing the work on my One Woman Show ‘I Do(n’t)'.
During this very productive time, themes that emerged in my songwriting included: identity, belonging, land, migration, separation and (re)connection. Here is the first instalment of my creative output from this dedicated songwriting time:
-
Wind & Seed
An epic song inspired by the Tasmanian landscape, Sept 2025
-
Ongelezen Brief
This one's for the Bühne, a song about estranged relationships, Sept 2025
-
Tompoucen Met Spijt
A quirky song about apologies and my favourite pastry, June 2025
-
Almost Kiwi
Land and identity: a trilingual song about my childhood connection to NZ, June 2025
-
Kibbeling
A song in honour of every mother whose adult children have emigrated, June 2025
-
Je Bent Het Nog Steeds
Reunion and reconnection, April 2026
-
God van Hagar
A song about the historical narrative of Hagar & the plight of women, April 2026
-
House on a Hill
If I could play God… A song about involuntary childlessness, April 2026
Here are some more songs written since:
Raw Form
Below you'll find a couple of piano+vocal snippets under ‘Songwriting Sessions’, just so you can see what my music sounds like as it is coming together (literally just filmed and recorded with my built-in camera).
Studio Releases
I've also added several youtube shorts as a recap of my single releases from 2024 and 2025, in the lead up to the release of my new single ‘Black Cat’ (19 June, 2026).
I hope there's something that will strike a chord with you or be useful for you in your own musical practice - and of course, you're always welcome to get in touch, through the contact form on this website.
