In Memoriam: Rob van Kreeveld (1941-2023)

Two days ago I found out that you passed away, while I was waiting for the release of my singles to tell you that were the one who inspired my love of Jazz music.
I grew up believing in God, but what I witnessed when you sat behind the piano in our Auckland home, the second-hand piano on which I dutifully played my grade one pieces, was in every way miraculous to me. The heavens might as well have opened, because when you played, angels danced on the keys...
My eight-year-old ears were never the same and this love of jazz music sat hidden in the cavity of my chest for a long time.
I was hanging out to tell you what you meant to me in giving me this musical experience and now it seems I am a just a little too late.
Thank you, Rob, for expanding my musical world and making it sing. I'm hoping for a duet on the other side.
