Our senses are so trained on perfection, that we fear making mistakes. But our greatest failure is not getting it wrong, our greatest failure is to be uninvested - both in life and in art.”

Bio

Renaté Bianca

Songwriter / Composer / Performer

Inspired by questions more than answers, Renaté Bianca is a Tasmanian-based songwriter and composer who explores in her music the wonder of what it means to be beautifully, imperfectly and gloriously human.

The magic of an early encounter with jazz music served as a musical beacon, bringing her home to a blues and jazz-inspired sound that is her own, grown from devotional roots and a childhood spent singing.

Her music has travelled with her around the world, from her Dutch-born roots and a childhood in New Zealand, to finding her home in the south of Tasmania.

Recognised by APRA as a finalist in their Professional Development Awards, Renaté Bianca has received multiple scholarships for tertiary composition studies and completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the Conservatorium of Music in Hobart in 2022.

As a songwriter, Renaté Bianca creates vibrant works that express the breadth of her musical scope and the cultural-linguistic integrity of her voice. Her work as a composer/librettist is focussed on the creation of a one-woman musical theatre show, titled 'I Do(n't)', developed through her participation in the Boston-based Guerilla Opera Writing Collective (2024/2025).

From her diverse portfolio, Renaté Bianca has released three Blues/Jazz inspired Singles in 2024: The Tracker (May 30th), Laat Me Niet Vallen (July 5th), Gumboots (October 11th). Her most recent release is the Dutch single 'Bij Jou' (14/08/2025).

Renaté Bianca is a recipient of the Arts Tasmania 'Tasmanian Residencies 2024/2025' grant, given in support of her work as a songwriter and composer/librettist.

She is currently in the studio recording her original jazz/blues album, 'Counting on Mercy', due for release later this year, as well as new material written during her Tasmanian residency.
