Excerpt from my Residency Diary:
September 29th, 2025
“Day 3 (or 4 depending on how you count) of my residency. I've written a song, ‘Wind & Seed’, in these first couple of days, scored the melody with a bassline - inspired by the landscape, the dance of late afternoon light, the signs of spring, a stray sheep and a car in the ditch on my drive up north.
I wrote the lyrics first - a reduction from a stream-of-consciousness free-writing exercise with the prompt ‘Land’. I casually tried a few melodic ideas and then randomly something landed and it was catchy…
…I can hear it sung with a big group of people."
