Tidal Light debut at Festival of Voices

The Festival of Voices is a celebration of voice and music, community and connection. Held yearly in the Greater Hobart area, it brings together singers and vocal ensembles from around Australia and overseas.

Tidal Light, the ensemble that I conduct and for which I arrange and write music, debuted at the Festival of Voices this year, performing at the Choir Lounge and at the MACq01 Hotel on Hobart's waterfront.

Our set list included my arrangements of Tim Minchin's ‘The Aeroplane’ and ‘Be Still My Soul’ (in 6/8), as well as an original song ‘Embers’, and my text setting of Shakespeare's Sonnet 29.

Being part of the Festival of Voices was a wonderful experience. Through the New Zealand Youth Choir that attended the Festival of Voices I met a friend of my former Choral Conducter at Rangitoto College in New Zealand! What a small world!

While you can't hear Tidal Light sing on the video below, you can catch a tiny glimpse of our performance, if you don't blink at the 1m24 mark.

Such fun! 😁 🎶
